The frame
Wesley-Barrell’s sofa frames are designed, made and assembled in our own workshops in Oxfordshire. Over many years we have developed an unsurpassed method of frame construction. At Wesley-Barrell we use a combination of hard and soft woods all from managed and sustainable sources. Whilst hardwoods are excellent for areas of stress, soft ones give greater flexibility, enabling the sofa frame to take the knocks and strains of everyday life. Frames are cut at our Ducklington workshops and assembled using glue, screws and staples. Wesley-Barrell frames comply with BS 4875 , making them suitable for the rigours of contract hotel use and come with a 15 year guarantee. A quick assessment of a well-constructed sofa frame is that it should be quite heavy, to check this, lift with care a corner of the sofa.

‘I find it rewarding that every day is different and I make an individual frame to order from start to finish rather than simply making a batch of arms or seats.’
