The springing

Springing contributes to the long-term comfort and durability of the sofa. Traditionally sofas are coil sprung which is an excellent seat platform as coil springs spread the weight of the person evenly across the whole seat, so reducing wear on the seat base. They also help you sit deep into the sofa, making it more comfortable. Wesley-Barrell uses deep coil springs which are hand sewn and tied into the padding to provide a luxurious seat base. Short coil springs are also used as an alternative springing system in our sofas and these give a slightly firmer sit than the deep coil springs. A few of our firmest sofas are web sprung. Serpentine springs are used only in less stressful areas such as the sofa backs and arms to provide shape and form, but are never used on the seating platforms.
