From rock to wood

How many geologists design award-winning furniture? To our knowledge there is only one - Ian Saville.
I hung up my rock hammer in the early 90's when I trained as a furniture maker. I now design and make a range of striking, functional furniture combining simplicity and style. The Creator Bass music stand (featured below) was shortlisted for the Wesley-Barrell Craft Awards 2006.

From a designer’s perspective working on the creation of new collections it is always more interesting when imaginative colours and exciting designs are in fashion. Thankfully after a recent period of minimalism and chic plains it appears that opulent design with vibrant colour and scale are back on the fashion agenda for the home. It’s time to be brave and make a statement with your furniture!

'Now in it's fourth year, Eureka is an initiative that links designers with retailers to get innovative products to a wider audience on the high street and we were very excited when Wesley-Barrell chose us to work with them for the Eureka project this year.
On the move

Travelling to Wesley-Barrell's 16 showrooms takes me from Bournemouth to Beverley and from Bristol to Norwich and allows me to see some of the loveliest and most interesting parts of the country.
I particularly enjoy the buzz of Manchester, which has changed enormously in recent years and is where people clearly thrive on living in a young and vibrant city very much at the forefont of design and fashion.
